Pokemon GO Groudon: Counters, Weaknesses, and Movesets

Groudon is one of the best attackers in Pokemon GO, so it's at the top of the list of Pokemon to catch for many Trainers. Before adding it to your team, though, you'll need to defeat it in a Raid and catch it. To do this, you'll want the best counters and knowledge of its weaknesses.

As a pure Ground-type, Groudon is weak to three types: Grass, Ice, and Water. 

On the other hand, it'll resist a few types as well, so be careful not to bring them into a Groudon Raid. These types are Poison, Rock, and Electric, which it has an increased resistance to.

To defeat Groudon in Pokemon GO, you'll want to bring the best counters into battle and exploit its weaknesses. Some of the best include the following Pokemon:

Groudon is not the all-time champ of the Ultra League, but it does reign supreme in the Master League, sitting among the best of the best. In PvE, it's one of the best attackers, full stop. Let's examine which moves to use in each scenario. 

In PvE, Mud Shot and Earthquake are Groudon's best moves. It'll receive the Same-Type Attack Bonus and do massive damage to its opponents. It's one of the best Ground-type attackers in the entire game, and will remain so for the foreseeable future. 

In PvP, the same moves are the best. However, Fire Punch can make for a great charged move, especially since it'll be a check on two of Groudon's weaknesses, Ice and Grass.
