Does Mortal Kombat 1 have crossplay? Cross-progression & platforms

Mortal Kombat 1 crossplay would be helpful to build a community of players. You'd be able to play with your friends on the PS5 with a PC version, for example. However, NetherRealm and WB Games have been hiding details about the requested feature. Here's everything we know about Mortal Kombat 1 crossplay.
- You'll be able to play Mortal Kombat 1 early by getting one of two special editions.

Mortal Kombat 1 crossplay is expected within the current fighting game landscape. Its main competitors Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 will support the beloved crossplay feature. However, WB Games has technically not confirmed the feature for the game.
In an official Q&A, WB Games did confirm there is crossplay in Mortal Kombat 1. On the other hand, there are two negatives. First, the publisher mentioned it will be coming after launch. Second and most importantly, this fact was removed from the Q&A after its initial publishing. Twitter user Wario64 screenshotted the previous draft of the Q&A. We will update this post once we hear an official update.
To add some speculation, Mortal Kombat 1 crossplay may release day-and-date with the game on September 19 instead of coming afterward. Or, the feature won't be included at all in Mortal Kombat 1, which would be a huge shame.
- There will be an open beta for Mortal Kombat 1.
Will the Nintendo Switch support crossplay?

One issue that WB Games might be running into is the Nintendo Switch when it comes to crossplay. Mortal Kombat 11 previously supported the feature, but it was only accessible through the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One consoles. Nintendo Switch players weren't invited to the party.
Perhaps, the reason why the crossplay feature was deleted from the Q&A is that the developers want to test the Nintendo Switch more with this multiplayer offering. Other games on the platform like Fortnite support crossplay, so it has been done before. Fingers crossed.
