While Mortal Kombat 1 doesn't officially release until September 19, 2023, Warner Bros. Games is offering a beta that allows fans to experience the brand-new Mortal Kombat title early. Read our primer below to learn more

Beta dates

The Mortal Kombat 1 Beta will go live to eligible participants in August 2023. Unfortunately, Warner Bros. Games has yet to confirm an exact date, only that it'll be available sometime in August.

As for how long Mortal Kombat 1 fans will have to enjoy the beta, that remains a mystery too. If we had to guess, we'd expect the beta to run for at least a weekend, with the potential for a full week of beta-testing festivities.

Do we know the Mortal Kombat 1 beta roster?

We don't yet know what the Mortal Kombat 1 beta roster is just yet, but based on how things operated with the beta for Mortal Kombat 11, we can make some educated guesses.

With the last game's beta, there were a total of five playable characters from the total roster. It's likely that those numbers will persist for the Mortal Kombat 1 beta roster if it doesn't exceed them. Check out the full list of confirmed fighters in Mortal Kombat 1 so far to see who you think might be included in the beta.

How to play the Beta

To receive access to the Mortal Kombat 1 Beta, you must pre-order the game on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S. Any edition of Mortal Kombat 1 will do! The cheapest way to play the beta is to pre-order the Standard Edition for £59.99.

Mortal Kombat 1 Beta platforms

To the dismay of PC and Nintendo Switch players everywhere, the Mortal Kombat 1 Beta is only available to players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. PC and Nintendo Switch owners will have to wait until the game's worldwide release on September 19, 2023, to play Mortal Kombat 1.

If you own a PC or Nintendo Switch and just can't wait to try Mortal Kombat 1, you can opt to purchase either the Premium Edition or the Kollector’s Edition to get early access to Mortal Kombat 1 beginning September 14, 2023. These two editions of Mortal Kombat 1 cost £89.99 and £239.99, respectively.
