If you are looking to change up the difficulty settings in Forza Motorsport, we've got you covered. Forza Motorsport is the latest racing sim from the legendary racing series, with over 500 cars and plenty of legendary tracks.

Changing difficulty is not as simple as choosing easy, medium, or hard, as there is a bit more nuance to it. Here is how to change difficulty settings, Drivatar difficulty, & the driving assists in Forza Motorsport.

The most straightforward way you can change up the difficulty in Forza Motorsport is to raise or lower the Drivatar difficulty. To change your Drivatar difficulty, you must:

  • Begin a race, then choose Difficulty settings
  • Choose the Drivatar difficulty setting between 1 and 8
  • Then choose a Ruleset Bonus (Club Rules, Sport Rules, or Expert Rules)

Drivatars are the AI opponents you face in races. The higher the Drivatar difficulty setting, the better they will perform in the race. If you are finding your opponents are out-driving you, or they are not providing enough of a challenge, you can adjust this setting to accommodate.

The Ruleset Bonus grants additional rewards depending on which ruleset you choose. Club Rules sets damage to purely cosmetic, allows you to rewind, and has limited race penalties.

Sport Rules also has cosmetic damage but simulates the effects on fuel and tires, allows rewind, and has some more penalties.

With Expert Rules, damage, tires, and fuel use are all simulated and affect your driving, you cannot rewind, and there are harsher penalties for making mistakes.

You can tweak the difficulty of the game even further by changing the driving assist settings. These include real-world features like ABS, transmission type and traction control, but also game mechanics like driving lines friction assist. The full list of driving assists includes:

  • Suggested line
  • Braking assist (ABS)
  • Throttle assistance
  • Steering
  • Traction control
  • Stability control
  • Shifting
  • Pit entry assist

Beyond these settings, there are also driving assists that provide accessibility for players with hearing and visual impairments. One of the biggest leaps forward in this area is the Blind Driving Assists, a set of accessibility tools that can allow partially and fully blind people to play the game with audio cues that guide them.

That is it for the Forza Motorsport difficulty settings. For more, head to our Forza Motorsport homepage for more info like the Forza Motorsport PC system requirements or all Forza Motorsport editions explained.
