The Elden Ring Erdtree Burial Watchdog is one of the more unusual bosses you'll come across. This creepy statue thing is the end boss of one of the first dungeons you are likely to encounter in Elden Ring. Its unusual movements can be very off-putting, and difficult to read. We have some tips that should help you out, so here is how to beat the Erdtree Burial Watchdog in Elden Ring.

  • Before you find the Erdtree Burial Watchdog, you’re bound to run into the Tree Sentinel. For help taking him down, check out Elden Ring Tree Sentinel: How To Beat The Tree Sentinel Boss.

The Erdtree Burial Watchdog is the end boss of the Stormfoot Catacombs dungeon. This dungeon is northwest of the Church of Elleh, at the bottom of a cliff underneath Stormveil Castle. This area can be a challenge early in the game since it's filled with very aggressive imps which are incredibly vicious.

Inside the dungeon, take the first right. This will bring you down to a large door you cannot open. This is the boss door, and you will need to find a way to open the door in the dungeon and return here. This is a pretty common thing for these dungeons, so you’ll get used to these.

Go left from this door and you will be into the dungeon proper. Fight your way through the imps until you find the lever, it is on a ledge above the first room. Pull the lever and the boss door will open.

Beside the door, there is a summon statue that you can activate. Use it if you’re having a hard time, and see if there are any friendly players out there who could help.

  • It’s important to be prepared for any boss fight and bring a powerful weapon. For some tips on upgrading your gear, here is Elden Ring Smithing Stones: How To Use Them And Get More.

The Erdtree Burial Watchdog can be a bit intimidating, as it comes at you like a puppet on strings. It moves unnaturally, floating through the air. Don’t let that fool you, it bleeds and you can kill it. The number one thing to do is watch its movements. Those stiff, stilted attacks make it quite easy to read. Try to keep some distance to watch what it does, and you will quickly get a feel for when you can attack it.

As well as its sword attacks, the Erdtree Burial Watchdog can breathe fire. This is a brutal attack that will take you out if you approach from the front. Avoid standing directly in front of the boss and your eyebrows should remain intact.

Despite being statuesque, the Erdtree Burial Watchdog is very mobile. It will close distances quickly, so you will need to stay on the move. A handy way to keep it at arm’s length is to make use of the four pillars in the arena. Put a pillar between you and the boss to interrupt it and keep it at bay, giving you the chance to move in and attack.

Follow these tips and you shouldn’t have too much trouble with the Erdtree Burial Watchdogs. When you’re done here, your next port of call should be Margit. For more on that, check out Elden Ring Margit Boss Fight: How To Beat Margit, The Fell Omen.
