EA Sports FC 24 (EASFC 24) will be released very soon, and excitement for the latest football game from EA is starting to build. For the first time since the inception of the game, we are seeing a name change after being called FIFA since the 90s.

We have been lucky enough to go hands-on with the next iteration of this long-running series, and although the name seems to be the biggest change going forward, there are still plenty of incremental changes to look forward to. However, we didn't get to try out Clubs and Manager Mode which are also set to see huge changes for EASFC 24.

Let's take a look at everything we have seen so far including what changes we can expect to see in Ultimate Team, the EASFC 24 release date, and more.

What is the EA Sports FC 24 release date?

EA Sports FC 24 has a release date of September 29. However, as we have come to expect from the series, there will be an early access period for those who have purchased the Ultimate Edition, as well as a trial via EA Play for members of the subscription service.

The early access period that comes with the Ultimate Edition means you can play EASFC 24 from September 22.

While the name might have changed, EA Sports FC is still going to be a FIFA game and thus the gameplay will largely be similar. There might be a few new mechanics and buzzwords like HyperMotion, but in the end, it's still a football simulation with an arcade-esque tinge to it.

What we might see born from the relinquishing of the FIFA name however is new game modes, or overhauls of previous series stalwarts. We do not know the inner workings of the deal between EA and FIFA, but the nature of EA having full control over the game could see some interesting new mechanics added.

While it might not seem much right now, the confirmation of Pepsi's partnership with EA Sports FC could indicate that sponsors are returning to Career Mode. This perhaps is rather trivial but could indicate a larger shift to the mode and overall game.

  • Here are all the new Hero cards coming to EASFC 24.

Ultimate Team however could be the game mode that sees the biggest amount of changes.

The main changes that have been rumoured so far come in the form of the market, and the other rumour was women coming to Ultimate Team, something that has now been revealed in a recent trailer. In terms of the market, there seems to be suggestions that EA will shift it more towards the FIFA Mobile market, where EA largely sets the price of each card and it works on purchase orders instead of bids.

This, if true, could see a huge nerf to trading and put a much bigger emphasis on opening packs - supported by the new supposed 'dynamic pack weight' which increases your odds the more you open.

On the other hand, the introduction of women's clubs and players to the Ultimate Team game mode is very exciting, and something many players have been wanting for a while. It is rather silly to have an entire section of the database completely unused in EA's most popular game mode, so it is great that it is about to be rectified.

In addition, it does appear to be that mixed teams will be possible too which is great, allowing you to put both reigning Ballon d'Or winners in your Weekend League squad.

EA Sports FC 24 trailers

We have only seen one trailer for EASFC 24 so far. It was what we have come to expect from this type of trailer, highlighting the players we can expect to use and offering glimpses into the gameplay. The biggest change we can see is women finally being added to the game, with them lining up alongside male players.

The trailer also offers a look at some of the Icons in the game, confirming both Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham will be returning this time around.

Now that release is just around the corner, we know each of the platforms we can expect EASFC 24 to arrive on. However, the Switch version will still be a little watered down like in previous years.

  • PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One
  • Nintendo Switch
  • PC

So, that's everything we currently know about EASFC 24 so far.
