I found myself spending a lot of money while sleeping at Inns in Dragon's Dogma 2, until I managed to get player housing. Like most RPGs, you can get your own home to store items and rest in, but it's not made clear how to do so.

The game has some relatively hardcore mechanics and isn't the most beginner-friendly to those inexperienced with massive role-playing games. So, if you want to go house hunting for somewhere to settle down, here's what to do.

How to get a player house in Dragon's Dogma 2

There are a few player houses that are available in Dragon's Dogma 2, but the most cost-efficient one can be found in the major city of Vernworth. All you need to do is raise 20,000 Gold and complete the quest called A Place to Call Home.

To start this, you'll first need to finish Seat of the Sovran by speaking to Captain Brant at The Stardrop Inn. Once this is done, begin walking around the outside of the same inn (marked on the map below) until a character called Mildred speaks to you.

For me, she didn't appear until later, so just play the game as normal for a few in-game days and try again until you meet her.

Once she does appear and speaks to you, she'll ask if you can watch over her home while she goes travelling. The objective of the quest is to look after her house for a full week.

I just played the game normally to let the in-game timer run down a week during this, while making sure to return to the home to sleep a couple of times. At the end of the week, a notification appeared telling me she was back and to speak to her outside of the home.

If you want to take ownership of the home quicker, you can just use the bed in the house and choose the 'Rest till Morning' option eight times. This will fast-forward through the week until she returns.

Once Mildred is back, you can find her directly outside of the house marked in the image above. She'll then offer the house for 20,000 Gold. You can purchase it outright then if you have the money, or you can opt to buy it later and spend some time raising the funds.

Regardless of what you do, the house will be yours permanently after it's bought, giving you a place in Vernworth to sleep and store your items. You'll also unlock the "A House? In This Economy?" achievement.
