The Vox Obscura Destiny 2 quest is one of the first open exotic quests in the game. However, just because it seems available to all those sinking time into Destiny 2 and its new Witch Queen expansion, doesn't mean that you'll be ready to take it on from the get. Instead, the Vox Obscura Destiny 2 quest will require a fair amount of preparation and a tonne of coordination. Luckily, we have plunged into the depth of the Vox Obscura Destiny 2 quest and have come out victorious, so here's everything you'll need to complete the quest and get your hands on the Dead Messenger Grenade Launcher.

  • Check in with the Destiny 2 weapon crafting guide, so you are all set with the best weapons you can find for this ultimate challenge.

Destiny 2 Vox Obscura: How To Start

To start things off with the Vox Obscura Destiny 2 quest, you'll need to round out a couple of tries of the Psiops Battlegrounds mode in the H.E.L.M, and carry out a few steps at the War Table. These are the seasonal activities rather than actual campaign content, but should be highlighted in the H.E.L.M. whenever you go there.

However, while these few simple steps may unlock the Vox Obscura quest, you are far from ready to take it on. That's because the recommended light level is the soft cap of 1550. If you complete the campaign on its Destiny 2 Legendary difficulty, this will jump you up to 1520, but you'll need to engage in some of the endgame content, such as The Wellspring, to get that light level up. You likely won't need to get all the way to 1550, as 1535 should just about do it.

For your build we'd recommend a Void subclass, with an emphasis on the Devour ability, so you can spam those grenades as much as possible - they'll be needed for the smaller groups of enemies. Check out our Destiny 2 Void 3.0 guide to see how the revamped subclass system works.

While the Vox Obscura Destiny 2 exotic quest takes place on Mars, you'll access it through the Throne World. In it, you'll face off against Cabal as you try to access a rebel stronghold. You'll start by sneaking your way into a hanger, and stealing an Interceptor. You are going to need to defeat an offensive of Cabal, and other Interceptor vehicles, so be careful as their blasts can easily take you out. Keep on the move, be sure to take out the turrets, and then focus heavily on the tanks by aiming at their thrusters. You'll only have four minutes to carry this part of the quest out.

You'll eventually be given a tank, which should make things a little easier. However, again be sure to keep moving, as its slower movement can make you an easier target - especially when the aerial strikes come down. The second phase sees you destroying Signal Tower, so you'll need to take out the smaller shield generators first - these are easily destroyed so shouldn't be too much hassle.

Things will become a bit heated, so be sure to make your tank last as long as possible, as it provides you with cover from the multitude of turrets surrounding the blast doors, which you must make your way through once the Signal Towers are down.

Destiny 2 Vox Obscura: Make It To The Control Room

Once inside your base you will be racing against the clock once more. You'll have 10 minutes to make it to the control room. Things will get a little claustrophobic as you face more Cabal and a champion names Ba'Aruk, Dissident. The combo of a charged grenade and a heavy hitter like a fusion rifle, or rocket launcher should do the trick.

Next up you'll drop to an area with flame vents often blocking your path. A scout rifle or bow can be great for picking off some enemies from afar, but you'll want to focus on the room behind to start, where you will take out a Psion Commander, which in turn shields the Psion Codewarder. Try and be as swift as you can with the latter, as they are fast, and deal heavy amounts of damage.

Hack the console and press forward, beyond the flame vents - watching out for a sneaky turret on the right as you progress. Repeat the same hacking process on the other side, and then again on the third end of the area. Once all three consoles are hacked, you will be able to progress through to the next boss, Qabix, Insurgent.

Destiny 2 Vox Obscura: Defeat Qabix

The timer will still be ticking so time is of the essence here. If you have a super, pop it as soon as Qabix spawns, so you can make a good start to taking that health down. However, once enemies begin to spawn in you'll want to try and take out the turrets as quickly as possible, and thanks to your Devour, constantly throw grenades at the crowds of Cabal.

Qabix is split into three segments of health, and upon depleting the first you'll have to take out another three Psion Commanders - who are noted by their spherical shield - before you can begin to take out Qabix's next stage of health. Be sure to use cover wisely when Qabix fire their tracking projectiles.

Upon their defeat, hack the broadcast, which Caitl will interpret. Once she describes it you will be able to loot the golden chest to your right. This will reward you with the Destiny 2 Dead Messenger grenade launcher, along with an additional legendary reward, 165 Psychogenic Intel, seasonal XP and the completion of a seasonal triumph. That will see out the Vox Obscura Destiny 2 exotic quest.

That's all you need to know about the Vox Obscura Destiny 2 quest. Now that you've conquered this endgame quest, find out what the Destiny 2 The Witch Queen Raid release date is, so you can put your new exotic to the test.
