Despite its rocky launch and subsequent legacy, Cyberpunk 2077 has seen something of a resurgence in recent years and, with the anticipation of the 2.0 Update and Phantom Liberty expansion, it may be the ultimate comeback for the game.

So, we’re here to go through everything you can expect to see from the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update, from its updated features to the date you can get your hands on it - all you need to do now is read on.

When is the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 Update released?

 

 

 

According to the tweet from the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account, the 2.0 Update will be rolling out on September 21, 2023. While an exact time is yet to be confirmed, we will update this page when one becomes apparent.

The 2.0 Update is a separate free update from the Phantom Liberty expansion, which itself releases on September 26, 2023.

What to expect from the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update

The Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 Updated will have several quality-of-life improvements, as well as some significant overhauls to core game mechanics. Some of these changes include:

  • Cyberware redesign
  • Cyberware giving armour
  • Fashion is no longer tied to stats so you can dress however you want
  • New weapons and items
  • Police System changes with MaxTac presence overhauled
  • Skill trees redesigned
  • Vehicular combat
  • Weaponized vehicles

As you can see, this update is the biggest update that Cyberpunk 2077 has seen since its release, and will be completely altering the way the game is experienced.

Several trailers have been revealed, providing new insights into what players can see and do following the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 Update.

This first trailer announced the release date and a brief glimpse into some of the changes players will be able to experience in the 2.0 Update.

Bullet Time Ninja 2.0 Build

In the run-up to release, the official Cyberpunk 2077 YouTube channel released several builds based on core mechanics you can utilise in Update 2.0. This build allows you to slow down time and use the new skill tree on the redesigned blade gameplay.

Hack-&-Slash Netrunner 2.0 Build

This Hack-&-Slash Netrunner build utilises the hacking mechanics that have been completely resigned, as well as new ways to use the Monowire Cyberware in the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 Update.

Savage Slugger 2.0 Build

The final build released in the run-up to the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 Update utilises shotguns and large hammers as a demonstration of strength. It also showcases the new ability to pick up enemies and throw them to cause significant damage.
