Broken Roads is confirmed to be coming soon, so you may want to learn all there is to know about the PC role-playing game, including the release date, gameplay details, trailers, and what platforms it will be on.

This year has been massive for RPGs, and Broken Roads looks to continue that with an adventure into the post-apocalyptic Australian outback. The game has been on many people's radars since it was first revealed, and there's been lots of discussion surrounding its unique morality system.

So, if you're looking to learn more about the game before it releases, take a look at our explainer of the launch window, gameplay details, and more for Broken Roads below.

Is there a Broken Roads release date?

The Broken Roads release date was announced to be November 14, 2023, meaning it will be releasing this year. It's worth noting that the PlayStation version has no announced date yet, so only PC and Xbox players can enjoy it in November.

Initially, the game was set to launch in 2022 before being pushed back to this year.

What Broken Roads trailers are there?

There have been multiple trailers for Broken Roads so far, beginning with the reveal trailer which debuted back in October 2019. It featured some shots of concept art and early gameplay, while a voice-over spoke a little about the game's world.

The next major trailer came in August 2021, and was mostly the same, though the gameplay and art had been polished and improved significantly. This trailer also keyed into the major gameplay aspects of how choice defines who you are, and your personal story through the game.

Since then, there have been a few different trailers showing similar content. However, the pacifist trailer, which released in May 2023, gave players a better idea of how far choices can be taken in the game, confirming that you can play through the whole game non-violently and vice versa, depending on your decisions.

Broken Roads gameplay details

Broken Roads is a narrative-driven CRPG set in a unique Australian post-apocalyptic setting, that focuses on exploration, turn-based combat, and meaningful philosophical choices

A big feature and selling point of the game is the Moral Compass system. This allows players to dynamically forge a philosophical leaning based on Utilitarianism, Humanism, Machiavellianism, and Nihilism, which shapes their protagonist's worldview.

This system influences dialogue options, quest decisions and vice versa, with the philosophical leaning of your character allowing you to choose (or locking you out of) different decisions.

Every choice you make will shift the Moral Compass, allowing characters to broaden or narrow their morality, and even shift it entirely over the course of a playthrough.

As players make decisions that influence the Moral Compass, they will also gain moral traits that affect their character's stats in conversations or combat. This ties into the classless system, allowing you to fluidly shape your character in multiple ways, rather than selecting a class and working within those more narrow boundaries.

These systems are all designed with player choice and reactivity in mind, with the game's narrative being shaped by decisions you make in dialogue, in combat, and while exploring the outback.
