The way food works in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora might be a little confusing at first. You can cook meals but the way you restore your health bar is different. Don't worry though, as I’ll explain how to do it below.

This guide will cover how to eat food in the game, as well as how your health pouch works. It’s important to know the difference, especially if you want to try and take on harder enemies or outposts.

To restore your health in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora you need to find Dapophet plants. These will provide you with consumables when you interact with them. You can see what they look like above.

Interact with these plants and you’ll get Dapophet Pods. These will go to your health pouch, where they’re kept until you use them. When you have them in your health pouch you can use up on the D-pad or the Z key to consume them and restore your health.

You can only hold two Dapophet Pods on you at a time. You can unlock room for more with Skill Points eventually.

When you eat meals you’ll restore your energy (not health) as well as gain whatever effect the meal gives. Some meals can give you bonus health, while others have stealth bonuses or damage resistance.

To eat your meals, you need to go to your weapon wheel and then navigate to the Food section. This will bring up a “food wheel” of sorts, with all of your current meals.

Just remember that these meals won’t restore your health in a pinch like the Dapophet Pods can, so make sure you’re stocked up on Pods before taking on any tough battles.
