You'll want to know all the information about Apex Legends Season 17: Arsenal, as it's set to add some new content, such as the new Ballistic Legend, map overhauls, and much more.

Apex Legends has remained fresh since its 2019 launch thanks to consistent updates that add new Legends, maps, modes, and other features to the game. The latest season continues this trend with the newest Legend since 2022, so you may want to learn more about it. Read on for our explainer of the Apex Legends Season 17 release date and more.

Apex Legends Season 17: Release date

Apex Legends Season 17: Arsenal will start on May 9, 2023.

That means that you'll want to finish your Apex Legends Season 16 Battle Pass by then.

Apex Legends Season 17: New Legend abilities

Season 16 may have failed to deliver a new Legend, but in Season 17, Respawn will introduce a new Legend to the mix. To start, Season 17 will introduce Apex Legends' Ballistic.

Ballistic is an Assault Legend whose kit is purely offensive and is able to stash a third weapon on his person, activating his abilities to buff himself and his teammates, while also debuffing enemies. Here is his full list of abilities:

Passive: Sling

  • A sling where you can store a third weapon. Access via inventory. The sling weapon cannot take attachments.

Tactical: Whistler

  • Shoots a guided projectile that debuffs the enemy. Enemy guns will start to heat up as they shoot. Overheating will cause a reaction and deal damage. Holding the Tactical will allow it to lock on to a target.

Ultimate: Tempest

  • When activated, nearby teammates get a buff applied. It gives faster reload speed, armed move speed, and infinite ammo. Ballistic's sling weapon will be equipped and upgraded to Gold.

Apex Legends Season 17 Arsenal: World's Edge map update

Respawn has confirmed that World's Edge will be receiving a map update with Fragment finally being replaced after countless requests from the community.

The new Monument POI will replace it with the location including an Apex Games Museum and improved overall loot.

For fans of Fragment, not every element of the famous area is being scrapped, as the new Stacks POI next to Big Maude is basically a smaller version. The new area includes the iconic Construction Stacks building for fans of zipline movement, and of course, a few skyscrapers.

Apex Legends Season 17: Firing Range overhaul

The Firing Range is being completely overhauled in Season 17 with a reorganised weapon layout, an agility course, a dual pit for taking on friends, and a training ground that allows you to practice fighting in a simulated combat environment.

Here, players will be able to hone their gun skill and movement before jumping into their matches, maximising their chances of victory.

Apex Legends Season 17: Weapon Mastery

Weapon Mastery is coming in Season 17 and offers a long-term progression system out of account level. At the beginning of Arsenal, every player's weapons will begin at level 1 and they can progress them by racking up damage and kills during their matches with specific guns.

Every 20 levels, a weapon-specific trial will unlock to test a player's skill with that weapon and offer a reward for its completion. Getting a weapon to level 100 and finishing all five trials will master that weapon and earn the final rewards.

When it comes to cosmetics, each weapon mastery track will earn players weapon-specific badges, lifetime performance trackers, Legendary weapon mastery banner frames, and a guaranteed Legendary skin for each weapon.

So, whether you're a fan of the R-301, R99, or Charge Rifle, there are exclusive rewards for you to unlock in Season 17.

Apex Legends Season 17: New events

To keep things interesting, Season 17 will host at least a few events. The Apex Legends files contain three Season 17 events with the codenames "Hitman", "Neon", and "Alien".

Apex Legends Season 17: New Heirloom

After heavy demand and a lengthy wait, the Gravitational Manipulator, Horizon, is finally getting an Heirloom in Season 17. Horizon's Heirloom will likely be a reward for finishing a Collection Event during Season 17 of Apex Legends.

That's all for our coverage of Apex Legends Season 17: Arsenal, and now you know the release date, the new Legend's abilities, the map changes, weapon mastery, and more.

Hopefully, Respawn Entertainment makes some headway on Apex Legends cross-progression in Season 17.
