As anyone who’s played them at all will attest, cosmetic DLC is the lifeblood of many free-to-play games. It makes perfect sense, honestly - ever since Fortnite perfected the approach to skins, other similar games have attempted to replicate the same bountiful tactic, with varying degrees of success.

The likes of Apex Legends and Call of Duty: Warzone have taken up the skin-for-profit model quickly, and so far, it’s worked nicely.

Of course, Riot Games couldn’t be left out, introducing the model to VALORANT too. And would you believe, it worked. But it might have worked too well on one dedicated fan.

One VALORANT super-fan, ArcticSoldier, has done what many thought was impossible and has earned every single skin in the game. They confirmed the news by sharing a screenshot of the VALORANT store with no more slots for purchases available, with the buyable items being replaced by a message reading “Thank you for supporting VALORANT!”

In the replies to the tweet, many have asked how much this endeavour cost the user, and it was not a cheap milestone to reach. In response to one commenter, ArcticSoldier responds “with buying this last pack about $4,400”. PHEW.

Every single classic skin, melee skin, gun buddy and collection are now tucked away in ArcticSoldier’s stash. It’s an insane sum of money to pay for some in-game cosmetics, but this user has just joined a club of completion, of which they may be the only member.

It’s further proof that the cosmetic boom is here to stay, and will always be an incredible money mill for game developers, as there may be many players who don’t contribute financially to a game at all - but every once in a while, there’ll be an ArtcticSoldier to dominate the online shop all by themselves.
