The Witcher has found incredible success on Netflix, but its future has been yanked into uncertainty. The upcoming third season of the streaming service's fantasy giant is set to be the last for Geralt as we know him, as Henry Cavill has officially stepped down from the role.

Liam Hemsworth is clambering into Geralt's boots for a proposed fourth and fifth season, but critics remain unsure. Plus, with The Witcher: Blood Origin immediately squandering its critical rankings, there's every chance that the show's other spin-offs could follow suit.

Still, the Witcherverse is poised to expand with more games and spin-offs. Now, a big name has just joined one of the live-action spin-offs, and it may offer a little hope.

A new report from Collider claims that action movie legend Dolph Lundgren has revealed to Swedish outlet Aftonbladet that he'll be attached to an upcoming spin-off of Netflix's The Witcher series.

He suggested to the outlet that he's currently in South Africa filming for a new spin-off, which many fans have presumed will be the planned spin-off based on the Rats - the underworld crime syndicate found in The Witcher's universe.

These Rats are expected to be revealed in Season 4 of the core show, which will be adapting their first appearance in the universe, Time of Contempt, written as the series' third instalment. Lundgren hasn't revealed anything about his role, so we don't know anything about what his involvement entails - but fans have an idea.

We don't have any word on who Lundgren will be playing, as he was very sparse with details - but if this series that he's a part of is indeed the Rats spin-off, fans have theorised that he'd make a great baddie to the crime syndicate.

Lundgren has an impressive resume that includes the villainous Ivan Drago in Rocky IV, He-Man in Masters of the Universe, and Gunner Jensen in the Expendables movies. He's more recently starred as King Nereus in Aquaman, reprising his role for the upcoming sequel and playing Jensen one more time for The Expendables 4

It's nice to see an action giant join a spin-off like this - but it's worth remembering that big names mean little, as Michelle Yeoh's appearance in Blood Origin didn't do much for its critical reception. Who knows, maybe the Rocky star could be the exception.
