The Witcher might be a gaming powerhouse by itself, but since the release of the immensely popular The Witcher 3, it has become much more than that.

With novels, comics, board games, and a now-beloved Netflix series starring Henry Cavill, The Witcher has grown beyond a video game series and into a fantasy icon. We'll bet CD Projekt Red is pretty pleased with itself.

While the game franchise's future is still unknown, the series continues to work hard. Even though Season 2 hadn't released at the time, last year brought with it some exciting news about the upcoming third season - implying that the future of the series is safe. And now, we have a new update on how the series is looking.

What Are The Witcher Season 3's Filming Dates?

Netflix isn't looking to pump the brakes, as plans for Season 3's production on The Witcher are already in the works. Even though Season 2 launched only last month, the third season is entering pre-production this month. Better yet, filming is set to begin filming in March.

The news was reported by Redanian Intelligence, which has also stated that the show began its writing staged back in July 2021, and was nearly finished by the time Season 2 rolled around in December.

Despite the recent surge of COVID-19 cases, there's no word yet that production will be slowed - much like the last season, which struggled immensely.

The Witcher Season 2 Was Plagued With Problems

Though many fans loved the second season and were none the wiser, the latest run of The Witcher was struck by a host of production issues. The constant fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic caused problems in filming, and Henry Cavill even sustained a brutal on-set injury, that was nearly "a complete detachment of the hamstring". Yikes.

Here's hoping that the third season of the show goes without the same hitches - and that Cavill can go relatively un-maimed during filming. After all, what's The Witcher without the Witcher himself?
