Let's get ready to rumble because Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has just unveiled its latest addition as part of Nintendo's next DLC. Joining the likes of Persona 5's Joker, ARMS' Min Min, and Mario staple Piranha Plant, the seventh latecomer character has joined the growing roster of Ultimate fighters.

Now, Nintendo has confirmed a crossover of epic proportions is on the way as Minecraft is bursting into the battleground. There's been plenty of speculation on who would be the fresh-faced fighter, with leaks pointing to Devil May Cry's Dante as the likely candidate. Elsewhere, an altogether more out-there suggestion claimed Crash Bandicoot would be spinning into Smash

With the recent release of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, it would be a convenient time for the Activision favourite to join hands with Mario and the rest of the Smash gang.

Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai was on-hand to break the news in the three-minute reveal video. Although developers previously teased Min Min would be next on the cards, the second character to join the Ultimate Fighter Pass Vol. 2 was subject to nothing more than rumours and hearsay.

Min Min's reveal ran at a hefty 35 minutes and gave a deep dive into her moves and skillset, while Steve from Minecraft's presentation was considerably shorter and simply gave him a quick hello. Either way, they're sure to settle in alongside everyone else in no time at all. All of the DLC characters have been decided and are due to be released by December 2021.

Although Sakurai confirmed the development on the next DLC character had been sluggish due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Steve follows in the footsteps of Min Min following her July drop. There have been critiques Smash Bros. Ultimate has been relying on Fire Emblem characters a little too much, so at least he isn't from that franchise.

There are still another four characters as part of the second Fighters Pass, but for the time being, it's sadly still not Waluigi. Oh well, maybe next DLC? We doubt it. Also, where the hell is Birdo at?
