Riot Games Has Delayed New VALORANT Agent By Two Weeks

There's bad news for VALORANT fans as Riot Games has confirmed its latest addition to the first-person shooter has been delayed. Just hours after developers confirmed the next Agent would drop as part of Act Three, Riot did a break-neck U-turn and quickly delayed the new character by two weeks. Act Three is just a matter of weeks away, and while the mysterious new Agent was supposed to drop by on October 13, they'll now be a full two weeks behind Act Three's release.

A cold wind is blowing into VALORANT as Riot embraces the changing of the seasons and a new winter wonderland in Act Three. As with every act, one of the biggest pulls is the reveal of the next Agent who will be joining the likes of Cypher, Omen, and Jett.

In a lengthy blog post, Riot explained why the Agent has been swapped out for the previously revealed Icebox map. "Moving Icebox up from Episode 2 does come with a trade-off: we’ll be delaying the release of our newest Agent for two weeks (one patch cycle) after the start of Act 3", said Riot. "Delaying the release of a new Agent allows us to better handle any issues that might emerge when launching alongside Patch 1.10".

With games like VALORANT and rival Apex Legends being plagued by glitches, hacks, and exploits, delaying the Agent will also give the team a chance to tinker under the hood. The post continued, "We want to be faster when it comes to resolving any issues or exploits. This delay gives our team some breathing room to make sure current Agents play nice with the new map […] before introducing another variable".

As for who's coming next, Riot has shown off a female agent who's decked out in military gear and has a flaming bird on her shoulder - yep, we're stumped too. Either way, it looks like this fiery heroine will be heating things up in this frosty act of VALORANT

Although we now know what's on the way, players had been scratching their heads thanks to a number of mysterious teases that were left dotted around social media. Alongside hints of a winter theme that could lead to a new map, others posited that the next Agent will be some sort of Russian menace. This was expanded on when Riot showed used the image of a wolf to cue up the Agent's imminent arrival.

We still don't know her name or nationality, but if we're on the nose with the Russian idea, she'll fit nicely alongside Sova. Elsewhere, Riot has made bold claims to release around six new Agents a year, meaning this newcomer won't be fresh meat for long. Here's hoping she's worth the wait when she finally joins the party on October 27.
