There's a new sheriff in town, as Rockstar games is continuing to exploit its back catalogue with modern remasters. Following in the footsteps of the GTA Trilogy, a Red Dead remaster is apparently next on the cards. John Marston is tipping his stetson and riding into town for a whole new generation.

While it looks like we've skipped a modern retelling of Red Dead Revolver (sorry to its one fan), it makes a lot of sense to paint the wagon of the beloved 2010 title. It's been 11 years since Rockstar rebooted the Red Dead name and brought a new twist to the Old West, so we think enough time has passed.

What Is The Red Dead Remaster Rumour?

Fresh off the back of claiming Grand Theft Auto 6 is in development hell, Rockstar Mag's Chris Klippel says a Red Dead remaster is currently in the works. Coming to console and PC, it would be a neat little money-spinner for Rockstar considering the hype currently being drummed up by the GTA Trilogy

First released in 2010, Red Dead Redemption told the story of John Marston - a former outlaw who is recruited by the Government to take out a gang terrorising the state of New Austin. Much more than your standard shooter, Red Dead Redemption became synonymous with its Dead Eye mechanic.

If it wasn't for Red Dead, we wouldn't have the equally adored Undead Nightmare DLC or 2018's prequel in the form of Red Dead Redemption 2. It's a shame Rockstar isn't planning its own Red Dead bundle with all three, but you can't win 'em all.

What Else Do We Know About The Red Dead Remaster?

Remembering the OG was one of the most expensive video games ever made, we guess it'll cost a pretty penny to bring a Red Dead remaster to new-gen systems. With the first game getting some much-needed attention, we'll have to wait and see if Undead Nightmare gets the same treatment. Easily one of the best DLCs of all time, the game put a zombie twist on the Wild West - with great success.

Sadly, all we've got to go on are some rumours from a source that has a pretty solid track record. We have been here before with talk about a Red Dead remaster, but back then, the leaker admitted they'd made it all up just to show Rockstar fans would love the idea.

Namely, we're warned that a Red Dead remaster from Rockstar wouldn't be a typical remaster with 4K. Instead, it will be akin to the GTA Trilogy with a graphical overhaul that will make things look a little better. To be fair, there's only so much you can do with a game from 2010.
