Imane "Pokimane" Anys has implored her fans not to vote for her in the upcoming Streamer Awards after receiving nominations for both Best VALORANT Streamer and for the Legacy Award.

Kaitlyn "Amouranth" Siragusa may rule the roost as Twitch's most popular female streamer, but no one can deny that Pokimane is one of the most famous faces in the community. With a whopping 9 million followers on the Amazon-owned platform, the 25-year-old has established herself as one of the most beloved streamers out there. She may have faced controversy in recent times following her first Twitch ban as well as the beef between her and "JiDion". However, she has continued to throw it back at her haters and help paved the way for many female streamers hoping to make their name in a male-dominated industry.

So, it was no surprise that Pokimane found herself up for not one, but two accolades for The Streamer Awards 2022. However, despite her success, the streamer has urged her followers to avoid voting for her.

Why Doesn't Pokimane Want People To Vote For Her At The Streamer Awards?

During her livestream on February 22, Pokimane thanked her fans for their nominations which have led her to be up for both the Legacy Award and Best VALORANT Streamer at the awards ceremony. However, speaking about the prestigious 'noms, Pokimane said: "I didn’t really talk about it much yesterday because honestly, you guys can go vote for everybody except me."

Pokimane is certainly no stranger when it comes to award shows and accolades for her work. In 2018, she took home the Shorty Award for Twitch Streamer Of The Year and received nominations for Streamer Of The Year by the Esports Awards in 2019 and 2020.

The streamer emphasised that while she was very "flattered" by the nominations, her fans should, instead of voting for her, cast their ballot for other, smaller, streamers. Explaining her reasoning, Pokimane said, "I think it's more hype when people get their first award."

What Did Pokimane Say About Award Shows?

While she reiterated how grateful she was to have received such recognition in the past, Pokimane revealed that she isn’t really the biggest fan of award shows. The streamer explained she's "always felt weird promoting award shows." However, she claimed that things are different for The Streamer Awards given how they are run "for the community, by the community."

The Streamer Awards will take place on QTCinderella's Twitch channel on March 12 at 5pm (PST). Streaming fans who are wanting to cast their votes for The Streamer Awards can do so via the website before March 6.
