In a case of gone, but not forgotten, CD Projekt Red's new-gen release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is honouring Henry Cavill with a touching tribute to the OG Geralt of Rivia.

As a major fan of CDPR's games and Andrzej Sapkowski's original source material, Henry Cavill was linked to playing Geralt in Netflix's The Witcher series long before he was cast. To honour the franchise's ultimate fanboy, there's a Cavill Easter egg in The Witcher 3's new-gen release.

Where Is The Henry Cavill Easter Egg In The Witcher 3's New-Gen Release?

If you keep up with Henry Cavill on social media, you might know he has an American Akita called Kal. Henry's four-legged friend is something of a celebrity in his own right, and was apparently on the set of The Witcher the entire time it was being filmed.

CDPR has given Kal his own time in the spotlight, with the new-gen update adding a digital version of Kal to the game. Earning the "good" ending of the brand-new "In The Eternal Fire's Shadow" quest means you'll spot Kal in all his shaggy glory at the Devil's Pit. More than just honouring Cavill, you can unlock armour based on Netflix's The Witcher

Posting on Twitter, CDPR Acting Narrative Director Phillip Weber confirmed the Cavill Easter egg and said it's there to show the team's "appreciation for the great passion and enthusiasm Henry showed for The Witcher." It seems like angry Netflix fans aren't the only ones weeping over Cavill's imminent departure.

By now, we're sure you've all heard the whispers of behind-the-scenes drama that led to Cavill stepping away from The Witcher following the upcoming season three. His exit came just after a former producer on the series claimed the writers actively hated CDPR's books and Sapkowski's books.

Could Henry Cavill Return To The Witcher?

Cavill has had a run of bad luck, and in the space of a month, has lost out on both The Witcher and Superman. Some claim he left The Witcher so he could fully commit to playing Superman in the DC Extended Universe, and now that's no longer happening, everyone is asking if he could play the White Wolf again.

Even though Cavill's final season of The Witcher hasn't even aired yet, it's full steam ahead with The Hunger Games' Liam Hemsworth taking over the role for season four. It doesn't look like anyone is looking backward, as showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich telling GamesRadar she's "excited" for this "new chapter" of The Witcher

Despite calls for the return of the king, Variety confirms season four will move ahead as planned. This comes after over 300k people signed a petition to fire the show's writers and reinstate Cavill as Geralt. It remains to be seen whether The Witcher has doomed itself to the grave, but with Cavill already linked to a live-action Warhammer 40,000 series, we imagine he won't be bored for long.
