Every gamer would love to become one of their protagonist heroes. Whether you're playing FIFA dreaming of gracing the Nou Camp in an El Classico, flying around Silverstone alongside Lando Norris on Forza Motorsport, or even fending off a hoard of undead Zombies in Call of Duty, who wouldn't want a slice of the action that you spend hours recreating in pixel form?

For one-handed gamer Daniel Melville, his dream of having a bionic arm was made true. With the help of developers Konami and Open Bionics, his bionic arm is an exact replica of the Metal Gear Solid V Snake Arm, a game which he "loves so much".

The Bristol-based company, Open Bionics, uses a 3D printing technology to make bionic arms for amputees and created a below-elbow design in the form of the Venom Snake bionic arm. Melville stated that "This is unbelievable. It's everything I've ever wanted from a bionic arm. I'm an avid gamer and love Metal Gear Solid so much, and to actually have Snake's arm in real life is just insane." in a blog post on the companies website.

The design allows Melville to have a fully operational multi-grip bionic arm, that can not only contribute to everyday life but in gaming too.

Takayuki Kubo, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, also said: “We’re incredibly excited to collaborate with Open Bionics, who are at the cutting edge of robotics.

"We’re thrilled to see the iconic Metal Gear aesthetic of Venom Snake and his bionic arm burst out of the screen and come to life, in a dynamic fusion of technology and design that is changing the lives of upper limb amputees all over the world.”

The company now sell more of the Venom Snake arms for £600 or more depending on the many different requirements and are looking to continue helping amputees up and down the United Kingdom.
