It's the question on everyone's lips - just when is GTA 6 releasing? While it's been a decade since our last Grand Theft Auto game - sorry, we don't count the maligned GTA Trilogy - and GTA Online has satisfied some of our hunger, we're ravenous for the next chapter.

With 2013's GTA V being the most profitable entertainment product of all time (thanks to GTO keeping it ticking along), all eyes are on GTA 6 to perform. It's already looking like the most expensive game of all time, and as the pressure mounts, impatient players are demanding some sort of GTA 6 release window.

It would've been perfect to release GTA 6 in 2023 to celebrate GTA V's anniversary, but with rumours of trouble behind the scenes and a potential restart of the entire game, we guess we can wait another year. Still, 2024 seems like very soon for GTA 6 to race into our lives.

As spotted by IGN, GTA overlord Take-Two Interactive claims it'll make a jaw-dropping $8 billion in net bookings for its 2025 fiscal year (which starts in April 2024), with the launch of "several groundbreaking titles." Considering its 2023 financial year bagged $5.3 billion, that's a massive leap.

When you compare the figures to the previous financials of $3.5 billion, signs point to something supersized between 2024 and 2025. The earnings report reads: "For the last several years, we have been preparing our business to release an incredibly robust pipeline of projects that we believe will take our company to even greater levels of success."

What do we know about a GTA 6 release date?

Much like the deluge of GTA 6 leaks, it's hard to keep track of where we're up to with mythical release dates. After GTA 6 was officially announced in February 2022, Rockstar has gone to ground - aside from confirming the massive data breach was the real deal.

We've heard whispers that GTA 6 is being accelerated for release, but as with all these things, Take-Two is hardly going to reveal that in its earnings, is it? IGN pressed Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick about the GTA 6 in 2024 theory, and he conveniently declined to comment.

Trusted GTA leaker Tez2 recently gave the nod to a "Holiday 2024" release, and while it might sound like good news, it also came with the caveat that some content could be cut or saved for a DLC. Rushing GTA 6 just to appease fans is a dangerous tactic, as we saw with the likes of Cyberpunk 2077 and Redfall

Whenever GTA 6 releases, it's sure to be one for the ages, whether that be the biggest triumph or the biggest disaster of all time. We know the automotive adventure is on the way, we sadly just don't know when.
