Giant Snorlax bed will cost Pokemon fans a fortune

A giant Snorlax bed is a must-have for Pokemon fans, but coming in at $500 means it's not something all of us can afford.

They always says there are two things you shouldn't skimp on - shoes and mattresses. If you aren't wearing one, you're likely lying on the other. But, when you're tired of your boring old bed, how about sleeping in style with a Snorlax-themed Pokemon bed?

We've seen some weird and wonderful Pokemerch over the years, but recently, there's been an uptick in beds that honour those adorable Pocket Monsters. Just when you thought a Gengar bed was the coolest on the market, Snorlax came lumbering into view.

How much is the giant Snorlax bed?

Unveiled by Premium Bandai, the giant Snorlax plus serves as a cushion/bed and comes in at a whopping 72,000 JPY, which works out at around $542/£437. What we love the most is that its official name is "Definitely want to wake up – Snorlax cushion."

Measuring an impressive 150 x 130 cm and weighing 12kg, it's more than big enough to double up as a bed for those afternoon naps watching reruns of the anime. It also comes with a collectable Poke Flute, although it sadly won't make your Snorlax come to life.

Currently, the giant Snorlax plus is being released in Japan around mid-July, with pre-orders being accepted. There's no news on whether there will be an international rollout, however, Mecca Japan has its own listing that'll ship to other territories... at a pricier $744/£605.

There are cheaper alternatives out there

Interestingly, Premium Bandai sold a similar "Never wake up Snorlax cushion" back in 2016, with this latest addition looking like an updated version. That one didn't come with the flute, but still, there's been a massive price increase.

A quick search of "giant Snorlax bed" comes up with a tonne of options online, with Amazon offering some interesting alternatives. Seemingly, the same, you can buy a 150 x 130 cm cushion cover for $56/£46. It turns out there are loads out there, they're just not the official Premium Bandai ones.

You have to fill these alternative ones yourselves, and there are some mixed reviews on the quality, but if you're desperate for a giant Snorlax bed, you could save hundreds here. Either way, you're sure to get a great night's sleep lying on one of these beefy boys, and will likely need the Poke Flute to wake you up.
