Dr Disrespect Calls For Self-Revive Removal From Warzone

Herschel "Guy" Beahm IV, a.k.a Dr Disrespect is no stranger to an incensed rage when it comes to gaming, especially in Call of Duty: Warzone. The two-time Gamer of the Year champion is seldom one to hold his tongue with divisive opinions surrounding the state of the game, and this time he has erupted into a frenzy over the Self Revive ability.

After playing with fellow Warzone enthusiast Zack "ZLaner" Lane, the Doc found himself spectating, and with just two squads left, ZLaner was caught out by one of the oldest tricks in the book.

Sneaking around the back of the enemy residence, ZLaner managed to down two opponents, which would have been his 32nd and 33rd elimination of the game, before repositioning to take on a long-ranged fight against the third team member. However, the players used the Self Revive tool to resurrect their chances of winning, and flanked the flanker and thus ending the game victorious.

To their dismay, both Dr Disrespect and ZLaner were prompted into a rant at how Self Revives should be removed from the game - although you have to beg the question that if the shoes were on the other feet would we still be having this debate?

The clip starts at 6:31:45

Why Does Dr Disrespect Want Self Revive Removed?

From his outburst, Dr Disrespect seemingly wants Self Revives removed due to giving players an unfair advantage when they should theoretically be awaiting a teammate. Despite being a nifty tool for some players to have a second shot, it means that players need to thirst their kills to make sure the coast is clear. Without Self Revive, ZLaner would have been one versus one with the final player.

In his video he stated “Self-revive man... It’s just unbelievable.” before adding, “First off, I think they should take self-revive out of solos, number one. Number two, out of all the modes I think they only keep them in duos. That’s the only one”.

Should Activision Remove Self Revive From Warzone?

Without Self Revive, players would have to rely on better teamwork to avoid being wiped from the game. The ability does add an element of caution to a players game, but without them, players, especially those who are playing on their own, would be met with a harsh reality at every unfortunate moment. Other titles such as Apex Legends have often seen 'toxic' players leave downed teammates in search of more kills.

Activision's decision to add Self Revive to loot boxes is where the line may be drawn, possibly reversing this and making them be a steeper coast at Buy Stations may be more effective than purging them altogether.

Chin up, Doc. There's always next time.
