We all know that Santa knows who has been good and who has been naughty, and the same goes for King Kringle in Dota 2.

While all of the good girls and boys will be rewarded for filling up their Frostivus Spirit Meter in Dota 2, those caught cheating will instead be met with coal and a permaban.

Dota 2 players will find themselves on the naughty or nice list this Frostivus

Dota 2 is getting into the festive spirit this holiday season by giving gifts to all of the players in the game, though what you receive will depend on whether or not you have been found cheating this year.

From now until 11 January, Dota 2 players will be able to fill up their Frostivus Spirit Meter to gain a locked chest and random Stocking Stuffer.

Stocking Stuffers can range from emoticons to sprays to stickers.

There are also all-new item sets for heroes, with the occasional chance to unlock a bonus Unusual variant of one of the items in that set.

Rule breakers are facing the wrath of Valve this Christmas

But anyone who has been caught misbehaving in game will be facing consequences instead.

As shared by PC Gamer, players found to have been breaking rules will receive a "Highly Toxic Lump of Coal," which, when opened, tells the player: "Your Dota account has been permanently banned for Smurfing, or other violations of the Steam Terms of Service."

In a blog post about the event, Valve wrote: “There's no sense denying it. King Kringle knows. He's checked your behaviour score twice, and he's coming with his ban hammer to pulverise the smurf accounts of all the naughty boys and girls, before handing out penalties to their associated main accounts.”

Valve's scheme to lure in cheater with the promise of gifts is both hilarious and clever, and it has clearly already caught out a good number of cheaters.

Of course, if you didn't break any rules you have nothing to worry about and can open your gift safe in the knowledge that it only contains festive joy and cosmetics.
