Destiny 2 players demand big change to seasonal quests

It's been a strange year for Destiny 2 developer Bungie. 2022's Witch Queen expansion suggested Bungie had finally managed to reach the level of its Halo campaigns, but Lightfall was a disappointing update for many players.

Since then, the developer has seen layoffs and the threat of being assimilated into Sony wholesale, while also delaying The Final Shape. In the meantime, we've got Season of the Wish, but some fans have had enough of completing its activities three times over.

Destiny 2 players are done completing seasonal quests multiple times

Season of the Wish, like Destiny 2's other seasons before it, offers a variety of weekly quests that tie story and new mechanics together.

The trouble is, Destiny players enjoy inhabiting a trio of characters, often with one of each type; Titan, Hunter, Warlock.

That means getting to the seasonal activities, and experiencing new content like the Warlord's Ruin, can require completing the same quests multiple times.

That's led players to beg Bungie, not for the first time, to let them tick off each weekly quest for the entirety of their characters, not just one each.

On Reddit, u/itsRobbie_ said "It really sucks wanting to do the coil on an alt character only to realize you have to do a bunch of the seasonal quest steps before unlocking it" to which plenty of other players agreed.

It even made one user nostalgic for Anthem, Bioware's attempt at the loot shooter genre.

"Anthem was a poor game, but I did like the "pilot" system," they said.

"Your suits were your class equivalent, and your pilot changed suits."

Some commenters were less keen on skipping activities, though. One said, "I disagree, because I want the option to play through it several times to see any lore I may have missed due to distractions or similar."

Others noted that skipping missions would limit the opportunities for 'red border' weapons that can be converted into weapon crafting blueprints, and some suggested making it an optional choice to skip missions you've already played.

As a Destiny 2 player with a trio of characters, I'd love to be able to skip replaying the same missions again, simply because the pacing is a little off at times this season. Whether it's The Blind Well or playing through The Coil to collect enough Wishing Glass, these are things I'd simply like to skip.

As the OP pointed out, though, there's a good chance things will change post-Final Shape, since Bungie's roadmap will replace seasons with Episodes instead. What that'll entail remains under wraps, but it could be the shakeup the game needs.
