Death Stranding Director's Cut Teases PT Revival
The Death Stranding Director's Cut is here, as fans are once again traversing the newly-refurbished landscape of a dystopian United States. The update provides players with a whole load of new additions, and you'll be shocked to hear there's not a Monster Energy drink in sight.
Even if Death Stranding Director's Cut isn't perfect, it features an eerie Easter Egg from the critically-acclaimed psychological horror game, P.T. There's been no official confirmation from Kojima Productions or its headman Hideo Kojima. Yet, the idea of a crossover between Death Stranding and P.T. is getting devoted Kojima fans very excited.
What Is The P.T. Easter Egg From Death Stranding Director's Cut?
The supposed Easter Egg appears in a new cutscene, exclusive to Death Stranding Director's Cut. In the clip, protagonist Sam Porter Bridges wakes up in his Private Room, but behind him is a mysterious figure lurking by the shower. As the player treads slowly toward the silhouette through Bridges' eyes, its head begins to shake erratically.
Then, the whole shadow rapidly moves in all sorts of disjointed positions in the shower, before coming to a standstill. After the terrifying monster comes leaping out toward the player, the scene is revealed to be Bridges' dream. One thing's for sure, Hideo Kojima is flexing his jump-scare skills.
Fans have been quick to discuss whether this could just be a horrifying nightmare to scare the bejesus out of players or a direct nod to the much-missed horror game P.T.. On Twitter, one player was convinced that the apparition was identical to the terrifying P.T. character, Lisa.
What Is P.T.?
P.T., or Playable Teaser, was a psychological horror game developed by Kojima Productions. The game - which was a free download on the PlayStation store - served as an interactive teaser for Kojima's horror game Silent Hills.
This was a highly-anticipated return to the series and passion project between Hideo Kojima, director Guillermo Del Toro, and Death Stranding's Norman Reedus.
Sadly, P.T. was unexpectedly cancelled in 2015 and was quickly removed from the PlayStation Store - leaving fans devastated that the game would no longer be available to download.
Since then, there have been rumours that a P.T. revival could be in the works. Kojima hasn't kept his love of horror a secret, and only recently, shared the creepy fairy tales which traumatised him as a child. Loyal fans have frequently expressed their enthusiasm for Kojima's next game to be a horror project.
For those working their way through Death Stranding Director's Cut, keep your eyes peeled. Maybe more shadowy P.T. figures could be lurking in the shadows?
