Cloud9 Signs vice To Its Pro VALORANT Roster
Daniel "vice" Kim has signed on the dotted line for Cloud9 as the pro team has nabbed the big name for its VALORANT roster. After making a name for himself as a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) player, vice is the latest superstar to try his hand at Riot Games' first-person shooter.
Despite VALORANT being a newcomer on the esports scene, it's already swept the board and picked up a number of CSGO legends. Following in the footsteps of Nick “nitr0” Cannella, vice is the latest CSGO all-star to mix things up a bit.
Of course, vice is no stranger to Cloud9 and even played as part of its CSGO team a few years ago.
The move shouldn't come as too much of a surprise considering vice has been seen alongside Cloud9 for some time now. Only recently, he helped the team land third place in the Pittsburgh Knights Invitational Gauntlet Series tournament. Now that the news is official, vice has confirmed he'll be playing Cypher for VALORANT.
Cypher is an expert at gathering information ahead of the match's main action. Kim explained he will be in more of a support role and set the scene for Tyson "TenZ" Ngo and Skyler "Relyks" Weaver to barrel in. Even if Cypher isn't up there with the big fragging heroes, vice will be an integral part of VALORANT matches as he scopes out what rival teams are up to.
Discussing his signing to Cloud9, vice said, "I’m super excited to join C9 Valorant. I competed in CS:GO professionally for about four years. I’m switching to Valorant mainly because after four years of competing in professional CS:GO I grew a little stale of it and I wanted to start a new chapter and I thought that Valorant was the best opportunity for that".
Now that vice has been fully welcomed into Cloud9, it's interesting to note all players that represented the team at Immortals First Light are officially on board for VALORANT. Despite failing to secure a win and lagging behind the likes of Team SoloMid and Sentinels, Cloud9 is a team on the rise and is snapping at the heels of its competitors. With vice being the latest addition, Cloud9 is definitely one to watch.
Cloud9's full roster now includes Tyson "TenZ" Ngo, Skyler "Relyks" Weaver, Mitch "mitch" Semago, Josh "shinobi" Abastado, and Daniel "vice" Kim. Cloud9 will next play at B Site's Pop Flash tournament. This will be the last North American tournament for the Ignition Series and a real chance for Cloud9 to show what it can do.
