Classic Game Modes Are 'Returning To Black Ops Cold War'

Black Ops Cold War has yet to make a lasting impact on the Call of Duty community, with many feeling like the lack of variety is hindering the experience. With only nine maps (including Nuketown '84) and very few game modes to choose from in a normal multiplayer match, there are still multiple game modes that haven't made their way into the game, some of which are timeless fan favourites.

As we head towards Season 1 on December 10, Black Ops Cold War is set to integrate with Warzone and Modern Warfare with its three-way levelling progression and implementing a trifecta of weapons into the battle royale. But Treyarch won't stop the fun there and look set to add more game modes to the multiplayer experience too.

The classical Treyarch playlist "barebones" has been leaked to be coming in the coming weeks, with game modes such as “Barebones Search and Destroy,” and “Hardcore Barebones Team Deathmatch” both mentioned within an audio clip which has been reported to have come from the files.

Black Ops fans will remember Barebones as being a playlist in which players can only use the base weapons with no attachments, which has been great for weapon camo challenges such as "get X kills with no attachments".

The same leaker also found sounds of a new game mode called "dropkick" which has been speculated to be a form of boots on the ground uplink, with the animation sounding as if players were picking up and dropping an object. Further game modes such as King of the Hill and an additional Fire Team mode have also been found within the files.

It's not quite the Demolition, Capture the Flag or Sabotage that fans are used too, but at least there will be more ways to play before the game stagnates.
