To mark the start of the brand-new league, all 12 franchise teams will be in action at the opening event of the year. There will be no tournament bracket at Launch Weekend but the teams will be playing two games across the weekend.

Launch Weekend will be the first opportunity for the 12 teams to earn CDL Points. 10 points will be awarded to each team that manages to win their respective matches.

Starting in London, events will be contested in a much more traditional format. The eight teams in attendance will be split into two groups of four, compete in a GSL group format to determine which two teams from each group qualify for a knockout bracket and the top four teams will compete to become the champion of that particular event.

Call of Duty: Challengers

Alongside the franchise teams, amateur teams and franchise academy teams from across the globe will be descending on the Minneapolis Armory to compete in the first Challengers event of the Modern Warfare season.

Expect a more traditional format for this part of Launch Weekend with a double-elimination bracket where teams will battle it out for the lion’s share of $250,000 in prize money.

The first game will be one to remember. Chicago Huntsmen v Dallas Empire begins at 5:30 EST / 11:30 CEST on the 24th of January.
