The iconic title that is Black Ops 2 looks to be primed and prepped for a big comeback in 2024, as Call of Duty also eyes a new era under Microsoft's guidance.
Ever since the takeover from Microsoft, Activision's game portfolio has been getting a lot of love, especially CoD, which saw all of its legacy titles get reactivated.
And now, it looks like those golden oldies in the shooter series are getting even more love, as Black Ops 2 gets a polishing update ahead of a possible Xbox Game Pass arrival.

Black Ops 2, now in its 12th year, growing a beard and getting a deeper voice, has now just been given a little boost in its adolescence, as Activision has reactivated more of its features.
The developers have now just fired up Theatre Mode, which is one of Black Ops 2's best features and one that has often been called for to return to the series in modern games to help identify hackers and cheaters.
The popular Emblem Editor is also back up and running, which allows for customised Emblems, also a popular feature from back in the day when it was used correctly.
There have been discrepancies in the past though, as the custom Emblem maker can be manipulated to have unsavoury messages and images on them, and do not have to be checked by the developers, only ever taken down after reactionary reports.
Black Ops 2's update tees up a Game Pass arrival
Already this week, Phil Spencer has encouraged Xbox fans that Call of Duty will be coming to Game Pass at some point, ending the debate as to whether Activision Blizzard games will be kept separate or not.
Although it remains unsure as to which title, whether it be Black Ops Gulf War or the next annual release, will be coming to the subscription as the first "day one" title, it does appear that all of the old CoDs will be getting their chance to spruce up Microsoft's free game service.
All of this comes in the wake of the Call of Duty 2025 game which is set to be a Black Ops 2 remaster of sorts, akin to this year's Modern Warafre 3 and the relationship it has with MW2 (2009) multiplayer.
