We all expected Call of Duty to land on Game Pass at some point following the Microsoft and Activision Blizzard King merger, but as to what capacity the series does arrive on the subscription was always a grey area.

Would it be just legacy titles? Or would premium new releases make the cut too?

Well, according to Phil Spencer, it looks like the latter.

Phil Spencer expects all Activision games to be released on Game Pass on 'day one'

As per GameFile, Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, has confirmed that Microsoft's "intent" is to release the "full portfolio of games from ZeniMax, Activision Blizzard, and Xbox Game Studios" on Game Pass from "day one".

Spencer's reiteration of "day one" would insinuate that all new premium CoD releases, as well as anything in franchises like Halo and Forza.

This all but confirms that we will also see the catalogue of old Call of Duty games land on the service too, which comes in as a huge bonus for any Xbox stan.

The only question left to decipher now is "When will this come into play?"

Microsoft has a string of AAA titles coming out in 2024, with the proposed Black Ops Gulf War game continuing CoD's annual release trend, Avowed and Hellblade II pencilled in for this year, and The Outer Worlds 2, Perfect Dark, Fable, and State of Decay 3 all possibly eyeing the holiday season window.

But this could be the year that we do see Game Pass begin to roll out its plan, given that Diablo IV is coming to the subscription in May.

Phil Spencer even earmarked 2024 as the period when Activision Blizzard games will come to Game Pass, insinuating more are to follow in Diablo's footsteps.

Still, for premium Call of Duty titles, only time will tell to see what Microsoft's influence on Black Ops Gulf War will be, if any, given that it was already in development way before the Xbox owners got their hands on the studios.
