Aquaman 2 Release Date, Cast, Story, And More
Is anyone else incredibly confused by the DC Universe right now? Out of it all, at least Aqauman 2 is still sailing into cinemas... or so we think.
The new takeover of the cinematic division of DC by James Gunn and Peter Safran has led to huge change already, with Henry Cavill hanging up the cape as Superman and Patty Jenkins unable to return to direct the third film in her Wonder Woman series.
For now, the films in active production will still see the light of day, including James Wan's Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
With rumours debunked that Jason Momoa would be recast in the DCU as Lobo (a choice that'd likely confuse the living hell out of the general moviegoer), Aquaman will return, and fans are hoping that he'll do so in bombastic fashion.

Aquaman 2 Release Date - When Is Aquaman 2 Coming Out?
Click to enlargeAquaman 2 was confirmed to be in the works shortly after the first adventure, with Momoa pitching a story and the. officially signing on in January 2019. Now, we're closer than ever to the new Arthur Curry flick.
The film is currently set to release on December 25 in the US and December 29 overseas. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was supposed to launch in 2022, but after delays over the pandemic and more work being needed in the visual effects department, it's been pushed back.
Although there were once plans for a spin-off based on the ferocious creatures lurking in the Trench, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that The Trench was axed alongside Ave DuVernay's New Gods in April 2021.
It's unclear where we go from here, but for now, it looks like Momoa is sticking around as Aquaman. This would make him one of the few of the Snyderverse crowd to hold onto his role, but we'll have to wait and see what happens after the credits roll on Aquaman 2.
Aquaman 2 Cast - Who's In Aquaman 2?
Click to enlargeThe film features a huge wealth of returning cast from 2018's Aquaman, including the big names that fans were surprised by their appearance in the first place. Of course, Jason Momoa will return as Arthur Curry and will be joined by Amber Heard's Mera.
Following her Johnny Depp defamation trial, over four million signatures demanded that Heard be axed from Aquaman 2. Former Warner Bros. boss Walter Hamada confirmed (via Variety) that while the studio considered replacing Heard, her role hasn't been reduced because of the trial.
Elsewhere, we've had confirmation that the royalty of Atlantis will be showing up. Patrick Wilson is back as the villainous Orm the Ocean Master. After being jailed at the end of the first movie, Wilson told The Hollywood Reporter how James Wan's ideas for the character in the sequel are "pushing it even further."
Yahya Abdul Mateen II Black Manta will also appear after a minor role at the start of the first movie, while Willem Dafoe's Nuidius Vulko is back for more. Temura Morrisson's Tom Curry, Dolph Lundgren's King Nereus, and Nicole Kidman's Atlanna also reprise their roles.
There are a few new appearing cast members, with Pilou Asbæk as a yet unconfirmed character and Indya Moore as Karshon. Momoa spoiled Ben Affleck's return as Bruce Wayne, but with the DCEU being burned to the ground, we'll have to wait and see if he's firing up the Batmobile.
Aquaman 2 Trailer - Is There Any Aquaman 2 Footage?
With Aquaman and the Last Kingdom being months away, we don't have a full trailer for the film just yet. Back when DC was gearing up for its 2022 releases (which at the time, included Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom), we got to see a few brief flashes of the film.
It's not particularly substantial, but hey, we'll take what we can get. As Gunn and Safran charge forward with the DCU, expect Aquaman 2 to be a top priority once The Flash has finally raced out of the gate.
Aquaman 2 Plot - What Is Aquaman 2 About?
Click to enlargeThe Aquaman 2 synopsis is out and about, but don't expect it to be all too illuminating. The description reads, "When an ancient power is unleashed, Aquaman must forge an uneasy alliance with an unlikely ally to protect Atlantis, and the world, from irreversible devastation."
Even though it's a little vague, this "uneasy alliance" should be easy to work out. Fans are theorising that this new ally could be Orm, and even though he's likely p*ssed that Aquaman usurped him as the King of Atlantis, there's every chance they'll have to join forces to fend off a brand-new threat.
We're not expecting that the story will pick up too far into Aquaman's tenure as king, so we'll get to see Atlantis under his rule in the film too. Either way, we're excited to dive into the long-awaited Aquaman 2 and what could be Momoa's last dip as Arthur Curry.
