Back in the OG days of Apex Legends, the booming sound of a Kraber shot was enough to put any player on edge.
With the weapon capable of insta-killing anyone with a single bullet to the head, it was a true powerhouse in the late game that could wipe out competitors in the blink of an eye.
A nerf put an end to its dominance in Season 13, preventing the Kraber from always one-shotting, and since then, it's still strong - but no longer has the same deadly reputation.
Well, the Kraber debate has been reignited in Season 20 once again, with some calling on Respawn to return the sniper to its heyday.
Kraber debate has been reignited in Season 20
The Kraber's power in Season 20 has sparked a debate on the Apex Legends subreddit, with players divided over whether the sniper should once again one-shot.
For some, picking up a "Kraber doesn’t feel like it did back in the day," with the gun feeling like a "minor inconvenience" to face in a skirmish. Others even joked that they're "more scared of a charged sentinel going off," and if players want the Kraber to be a threat again, it "definitely should kill from a shot to head."
Not everyone agrees, with those against changing it back arguing the "Kraber still strong and 1 shot headshot was just busted, especially in ranked." In their eyes, a player's "game instantly being over because someone hit one bullet will forever be stupid."
This is the exact conversation that occurred when the change went live seven seasons ago, and it looks like there are still passionate arguments on both sides. However, Respawn is unlikely to change the Kraber as it would have major implications on the meta, Ranked and pro play.
Why was the one-shot Kraber nerfed in Apex Legends?
Ultimately, the one-shot Kraber wasn't a massive issue in pubs or low-level Ranked lobbies back in the day, as players miss a lot of shots in those lobbies.
It caused the most problems in the upper echelons of the community, in Masters, Predator, and, of course, the ALGS. Pros and highly skilled competitors could consistently land headshots and effectively take out opponents with zero counterplay.
As a result, the old Kraber may have felt balanced in the hands of an everyday player, but it was a monster when a pro or Predator found one in a match.
