Allied Esports has announced a European VALORANT Ignition Series featuring G2, NiP, Fish123, Vodafone Giants, and Two Open Qualifying Teams, with $15,000 up for grabs.

The series will run on August 11-16 and will be produced from Allied Esports’ HyperX Esports Studio, and will be the first VALORANT tournament series.

In this new format, all six teams will play a best-of-two match over the first five days, guaranteeing a game between each team, and will work on a point basis. Three points will be awarded to teams who win, and one point apiece for those who draw. The top four teams will then advance into a double-elimination bracket playoffs series, where they will go head-to-head in a best of one GSL format to decipher who will be in the final. The final will then be a best of three, to crown the Allied Esports Odyssey Champion.

CEO of Allied Esports, Jud Hannigan, has said in a press release that "We are honoured to take part in Riot’s inaugural VALORANT series and are thrilled to introduce players and fans to an extended format that will create anticipation and high-pressure gameplay each day.

"The VALORANT community across our property network has been extremely engaged and we’re excited to watch six world-class teams perform at the highest level for their fans across the globe.”

Looking ahead at the tournament, G2 Esports will be synonymous favourites, having won every event in which they have featured in so far, such as Mandatory.gg Cup, the WePlay! Invitational and the Vitality European Open.

Fish123 will be looking to get their revenge on G2 after suffering a defeat in the final of the WePlay! Invitational and will hope that this format could be the opportunity to put G2's stamina to the test.
