Oh, Alan Wake. We were so glad to have you back. The kinda-paranormal, kinda-Avant-garde horror-adventure by storytelling masterminds Remedy Entertainment was an incredible foray that pushed the boundaries of storytelling in games - and its remake was incredibly welcome when it arrived a few years back.

With a sequel to the original game on the way, fans are getting reacquainted with the titular writer, and it's incredibly lucky timing. On October 20, a Nintendo Switch port of the game's remaster was surprise-dropped on the publisher's store. Except fans aren't all-in on the port.

Alan Wake Remastered On Switch Is Proving Controversial

Fans are taking to Twitter to express their irritation with the new port, claiming that it doesn't stand up against the original. Namely, it's the game's visuals that they think simply aren't up to par.

A video posted to Twitter by twodollarhero shows just how shoddy the Alan Wake Remastered visuals are, with mountains and other environments looking incredibly poor. Looking closer, it seems fences are only rendering in when Alan gets particularly close to them.

As one critic rightly said, "Alan Wake Remastered…while awesome…struggled to run well on the PS5. It never had a snowball’s chance at running well on the Switch. Now we know it’s even worse than the Xbox 360 version. Yikes! Not cool." While Alan Wake was once a beloved addition to the Xbox 360, it seems that time hasn't been kind to it. Then again, with 12 years having passed since the OG, you'd expect something more.

What Is The Predicted Alan Wake 2 Release Date?

It's a big shame that the Alan Wake Remastered port to Switch hasn't been a comfortable transition for Alan Wake, but thankfully, we still have his canonical return to look forward to on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series.

The sequel - which is said to be Remedy's first foray into survival horror (yes please) - is predicted to launch at some point in 2023, presumably later on. The wait may still be frustrating, but we're still holding out hope that it won't be long until we're back in the haunted writer's boots once again.
