Call of Duty developers has revealed that they have plans to release Warzone on the mobile platform in the future. Activision's President Rob Kostich has revealed their plans for the future in a call discussing the company's Q3 earnings.

Warzone was revealed to have reached over 80 million players since its release in March, and Call of Duty: Mobile has also notched up a whopping 300 million downloads worldwide. Over its one-year life span, COD: Mobile has attracted many players to play nostalgic maps with some of the best weapons ever introduced to the franchise, and Kostich has revealed that the app's success has spurred Activision on to launch more of its games on smartphones.

The President said that Activision sees a future for the battle royale mode to enter that app down the line. He stated that the company sees "a big opportunity to further connect the mobile experience to what’s happening on console and PC and [this] includes Warzone”.

Kostich added: “We see a clear path to continue growing Call of Duty’s reach, engagement, and player investment on mobile in the largest mobile gaming market in the world".

Call of Duty: Mobile has already received 50 million pre-registrations for his launch in China, which will undoubtedly add to the success of the app. With this in mind, Activision Blizzard COO Daniel Alegre also divulged that he intends to trial other Activision games on mobile too.

Diablo Immortal will be their next mobile game to launch, with Alegre stating "Diablo Immortal saw a hugely enthusiastic response in internal testing in the third quarter and will soon enter external regional testing,” before adding that there are "multiple Blizzard mobile titles under development".

With Warzone making the transition to the Black Ops Cold War after the launch of the next instalment of the franchise, a trial for the mobile app could coincide with the suspected new map.
