These Total War: Warhammer 3 tips and tricks are essential to making sure you don't get left behind in battle. Games like Total War: Warhammer 3 aren’t always the easiest to pick up and play if you have little experience with the series or genre. Creative Assembly does such a fantastic job of mixing real-time battles with a diplomatic turn-based strategy that it can feel very overwhelming to manage every aspect of a campaign. Which is where these Total War: Warhammer 3 tips come into play.

This is a handy guide to help get you started on your fantasy adventures in Total War: Warhammer 3. Even if you've been playing games in the series for years, you might have forgotten some of the basic tips and tricks to help you get ahead in matches. Here’s everything we think you should know.

Total War Warhammer 3 Tips: Watch Your Income

It’s not free to run and maintain an army you know! In fact, it’s likely going to be your biggest cost each turn as a campaign moves on and you build up a legion of warriors worthy of taking over the realm. Rather than ‘money’, the cost is calculated in something called Favour.

Income is made up of your background income and building income. Expenses are your army upkeep and raiding costs. If your Favour income drops too low, you can look at demolishing buildings that are costing too much to maintain or delete units from an army that you don’t currently need.

To build your income up, it’s best to focus on the income buildings and minor settlement upgrades. These provide the most meaningful increase to your turn by turn income and will ensure you don’t fall short of favour. Maintaining this figure will be key to success and expansion.

Total War Warhammer 3 Tips: Pick Your Battles

This is probably an obvious one for long time players but it’s always worth remembering that you’re not always going to be the strongest player in the game. The AI does a great job of keeping you in check early and one or two strong opponents will be waiting to capitalise on a mistake should you make one.

So, avoid getting yourself into close battles early on because the losses to your army will leave you vulnerable. While you will need to explore early on, it’s best to avoid conflict where possible and perhaps even strike to non-aggression pacts to ensure your safety from nearby factions.

This tip will strike a little harder if you’re playing as the Legion of Chaos as the Daemon Prince is a brand new character who is fully customizable. That means to can change almost any aspect of his appearance as you unlock more options. This is done by making offerings to the Chaos Gods.

For the other Lords, you can find and unlock gear throughout your campaign that will greatly aid your army. The only problem is that it can be easy to forget about it and carry on with the game without this massive improvement having any effect.

Be sure to check in on your Lord and make sure their gear is the highest quality possible. Also, make sure to understand the benefits that gear can offer to your army. It will be the difference between victory and defeat if not!

Total War Warhammer 3 Tips: Know Your Objectives

Keeping track of ongoing missions and the overall game objectives can get lost in the heat of battle. You’ll be forever accepting new missions and completing ones you forgot you even accepted.

Check in with the objectives tab every so often to make sure you aren’t deviating from your overall goal. Whether you’re going for the Faction or Domination victory, the goals you’ll need to meet are checklisted in the objectives menu to make things as clear as possible.

Finally, be sure to note down any time-restricted missions that you take on. Some objectives only give you around 10 turns to complete them and they’re super simple to get done for decent rewards. Missing out on these won’t be game-changing but it’s free real estate!
