These are extremely well-hidden, and as they are small pieces of white graffiti, spotting them in the colourful fantasy environments can be tricky.
When you come across one, if you get close and press the button prompt, it will be marked as found, and a counter will appear on the left. It reveals they are connected to the Cult of the Dragon Lord and that there are 49 of them in total, in the game. For Borderlands veterans, you'll remember that previous games have had similar collectibles and challenges that are elusive, such as the Eridian Slabs from the third game.
