State of Decay 3 is the sequel to the hit zombie survival game of the same title, in which players can build their own bases with up to four-player co-op.

Fans of the State of Decay franchise have been left wondering when State of Decay 3 will be unleashed on the world for some time now, and there's sadly still no word on when that could happen.

Join us as we go through everything we know so far about the game, including the latest gameplay news and which platforms we can expect the game to be available on.

State of Decay 3 trailers

The reveal trailer for State of Decay 3 is a cinematic trailer showing off a hunter searching for food in the snow. There isn’t a whole lot of information on offer during this trailer other than the zombified deer we see.

This is an interesting inclusion, however, as it hints at zombie animals being canon in the series. Going forward it is unclear how this will affect gameplay details like scavenging for food, hunting or dealing with threats other than the established zombie types.

As of writing, there is no other information or trailers on the State of Decay website. Hopefully, we will see more on display in upcoming showcase events.

Do we know what platforms State of Decay 3 will be on?

State of Decay 3 is developed by Undead Labs, the same studio as the first two games after it was acquired by Microsoft in 2018. Therefore, we should only really expect to see State of Decay 3 on Xbox and PC. It is very unlikely it would come to any other consoles, but never say never.

We also don't know if State of Decay 3 will release for Xbox One or whether it will be exclusive to Xbox Series X|S just yet. However, given that most recent Xbox releases, like Redfall, haven't been available on Xbox One, it's safe to assume that State of Decay 3 will also leave last-gen behind.
