You may need some help with how to complete the Resident Evil 4 remake Minimalist achievement, as it requires you to finish the whole game just using pistols and knives. The Resident Evil series is famous for its replayability and bonus challenges, which have become even more fun recently due to the extra content shop introduced in the RE3 remake

A consistent challenge and achievement that's appeared in many of the entries, is to complete a playthrough only using a knife. This is somewhat impossible in Resident Evil 4 remake, as the game takes a more action-oriented approach, meaning you can use the pistol too, but it's still a test of your skills.

So, if you need to know how to complete the Resident Evil 4 remake Minimalist achievement, we've got you covered.

There are a few things you can do to make getting the Resident Evil 4 remake Minimalist achievement much easier on yourself, so we'll cover some tips and advice below to ensure you get it no problem.

Firstly, it's worth playing through the game once or twice so you are familiar with everything. This also plays into some of our other tips we'll cover, as you can use unlockables to help you with this achievement.

If you finish the game first you will unlock New Game Plus, where you can carry over money and items to help with this achievement. We recommend attempting Minimalist on a New Game Plus Assisted difficulty run, as it's the easiest way.

There are three different knives available in RE4, with the Primal Knife being the best of the bunch. With this weapon fully upgraded, it can make the Minimalist achievement much easier as it has infinite durability. To get this knife, you will need to have collected all Clockwork Castellans in a previous playthrough.

Another useful unlockable is the Cat Ears accessory, which grants you infinite ammo when equipped, meaning you won't need to worry about keeping your pistol stocked. This is potentially the hardest thing to unlock in the game though, as it requires you to get an S+ rank on Professional difficulty.

If you don't have Cat Ears, the Minimalist achievement is still perfectly doable, but you'll want to get a fully upgraded Red9, as it is the most powerful pistol. The Blacktail is also a close second due to its fire rate and capacity, so the choice of pistol is up to you.

Another very useful tip is to make use of the case charms you can equip to get passive perks. Some of these increase the chance that an enemy drops pistol ammo, with others giving you a crafting bonus when creating pistol ammo. If you have the Handgun Ammo, Leon with Handgun, Don Jose, or Soldier with Hammer charms, make sure to equip these as early as possible.

That's all for our explainer of how to complete the Resident Evil 4 remake Minimalist achievement, and now you know the best ways to ensure you can complete a playthrough for this achievement.
