You may want a breakdown of the Resident Evil 4 Remake cut content, so you can see what did and didn't make it into the remake of the 2005 classic.

While the Resident Evil 4 Remake is very similar to the old game, it does make a lot of big and small changes, ranging from the darker and more horror-focused atmosphere to the fact that you can now move and shoot at the same time.

While most of the big moments from the original made it into the remake, there are some notable parts that are missing, so check out our explainer of all the Resident Evil 4 Remake cut content.

Resident Evil 4 Remake cut content

The list of Resident Evil 4 Remake cut content isn't very big, and if you've played the original game you will recognise all the areas, encounters, and key moments that have made it onto the remake. However, there are some noticeable differences between the games, so we'll cover them all below.

U-3 boss fight

One of the biggest differences between the remake and the original is the lack of the divisive U-3 fight. Some players from the original loved this fight for its horror focus and tension, while some lamented it as filler between the Krauser fights.

Separate Ways campaign

A big missing feature is the unlockable Separate Ways and Assignment Ada campaigns, which were in many versions of the original game. Both of these modes saw you play as Ada Wong, allowing you to see what she was up to while Leon's campaign was taking place.

Many believe that Separate Ways will be released as a DLC sometime in the future, though there's no official confirmation so far.

Boulders

The original game had a lot of quick time events which are now removed in the remake, meaning the famous scenes where Leon is forced to run away from a boulder are now gone too.

Laser room

One of the most famous moments in the entire Resident Evil media franchise is from the film of the same name that was released in 2002, where some of the characters encounter a laser room and are killed after being unable to avoid the lasers.

The original Resident Evil 4 referenced this during a section on the island, where you had to perform a quick time event to help Leon dodge different lasers, but this has also been cut from the remake.

There are a number of other smaller changes that have been made to the game. These are:

  • No incendiary grenades
  • No cable cars
  • The throne room has been moved so that it is now on the island, not in the castle
  • The second Verdugo just goes missing entirely after the castle
  • No truck set piece on the island
  • Much of the dialogue has been rewritten or removed, especially some of the sexual references toward and from Ashley

Another notable piece of cut content was the Mercenaries mode, however, the game's release trailer revealed this would be released as part of a free update on April 7.

That's all for our coverage of the Resident Evil 4 Remake cut content, and now you know which content from the original didn't make it into the remake.

We also cover how to get S rank in Resident Evil 4 Remake, which requires you to complete the game in under a specified amount of time.
