The Remnant 2 release date is upon us, so it's worth checking that you're up to speed with the game and how it differs from the sequel. The game is heavily inspired by Soulslikes, but with a bigger focus on guns to set itself apart from the crowded subgenre.

Whether you were a fan of the first, or just interested in what you've seen and heard so far, make sure you check out everything we know about Remnant 2 so far.

What is the Remnant 2 release date?

The Remnant 2 release date is confirmed to be July 25, 2023, meaning it's just under two weeks away as of writing this.

Pre-ordering the game on any platform also gives you access to the Gunslinger archetype early.

Remnant 2 trailers

There have been multiple different trailers for Remnant 2 so far, showing off various aspects of the game leading up to launch.

The first was the official announcement trailer which debuted at The Game Awards 2022. This trailer featured a mix of in-engine shots, cutscenes, and gameplay (though lacking UI elements) with the goal of showcasing the tone and feel of the game.

Many of the trailers that followed up the announcement focused on one key aspect, such as the individual archetype trailers that highlighted the game's classes.

More recently there was the co-op gameplay trailer, featuring in-engine shots and gameplay of teams of players taking on different bosses and enemies. In particular, it keyed in on the different abilities and weapons available in the game and how they work in the core combat loop.

A more story-focused showing came in June with the Introduction to the World of Remnant trailer. This featured a voice-over from a character in the game, explaining how humanity's thirst for knowledge led to them opening a door to other worlds, causing a great evil called the Root to slip through and nearly wipe out humanity entirely.

  •  If co-op games are your thing, you'll want to know more about the Payday 3 gameplay before its September release.

What do we know about Remnant 2 gameplay?

Remnant 2 is a third-person shooter action role-playing game inspired by the Soulslike subgenre, but with a focus on guns over melee combat. All characters can wield up to two guns, alongside a melee weapon for CQC.

Players are able to select a class called an archetype at the start of the game, unlocking dual-classing as they progress, with each class giving players a unique weapons focus and unlockable perks and skills.

A big focus of the first game was procedural generation, which has been expanded significantly in the sequel. On top of the randomisation of level layouts and enemy spawns, this time around enemy types, the aesthetics of a region, bosses, and NPCs are all generated randomly.

This goes even further, with the game's actual storyline and the various quests being determined by RNG.

The game is fully playable solo, but there is also a three-player cooperative mode for those looking to link up and destroy the Root with others.

Remnant 2 platforms

Remant 2 will be launching on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, where it will be available on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
