Pokemon Scarlet And Violet Trailers
This announcement trailer came during the February 2022 Pokemon Presents, which announced new content for a variety of Pokemon games as part of the Pokemon Day celebration. In the trailer, a security guard explores a mysterious building, discovering many items and decorations that hint at the region for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet being based on Spain and Portugal.
From there, the trailer transitions into gameplay footage of the still-unnamed region where Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will take place, highlighting the increase in graphical quality through the more detailed designs of Pokemon like Seviper and Magnemite. The trailer climaxes with the security guard discovering a picture depicting the three new starter Pokemon: Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly.
The second trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet gave us a much better look at the game. From this trailer, we can see even more new Pokemon, as well as many returning favourites. We also got to see some new characters, two new Pokemon Professors, and learn about some new features. Such as the up to four-player co-op that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will support. We don't know much more about that yet, but it is certainly an exciting new addition to the series.
Most importantly, this trailer introduced us to Lechonk, who instantly became the most important Pokemon in the entire series, never to be replaced.
Another huge trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violets has dropped courtesy of the latest Pokemon Presents. This took us through a wide range of different aspects including the Paldea region, a bunch of new Pokemon, and how the 'story' elements work. Take a look at the full Pokemon Presents broadcast above for all the in-depth details.
Pokemon Scarlet And Violet Gameplay
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will borrow the open-world elements from Pokemon Legends Arceus and the Pokemon Sword and Shield Wild Area. As a result, trainers will not have to venture into the tall grass in order to stumble across wild Pokemon. Instead, these Pokemon will be readily visible as they traverse the ground, sea, and skies of this new region. Players will be able to use stealth to approach Pokemon, before starting a battle and catching them.
However, it also appears that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will return to a traditional formula with the return of towns. In these games, trainers will be able to freely venture from routes to cities without the stark transitions that were present in previous main series Pokemon games.
Unlike Pokemon Legends Arceus, it appears that trainers will not be able to throw Poke Balls at wild Pokemon from a distance in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Instead, it seems that trainers will have to engage in battles with wild Pokemon in order to bring up the menu that will allow them to throw Poke Balls and catch them.
Given how these games appear to blend elements from previous Pokemon games, it is likely that we will see the return of Gym Leaders, the Elite Four, and the Champion of the region. However, Game Freak has not yet explicitly revealed whether these mechanics will return to guide the story of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
