A short while into playing Pacific Drive, you’ll likely come across the Transfer Trunk hanging around Oppy’s Auto Shop. At first glance, it’s not entirely clear what this little contraption is intended for in the game, since it essentially acts as a big container that you can store and carry things around in.

Initially, I first thought that it was something I was supposed to install in my car, or place in a certain position around the Auto Shop. However, its intended use is much more simple than that - and extremely helpful.

What is the Transfer Trunk used for?

The Transfer Trunk is intended to help you move items from the trunk of your car to the Locker in the Auto Shop.

At the end of each run, you’ll return to the Auto Shop to drop off your hard-earned salvage and fix up the trusty station wagon. All of your gear is either stored in your backpack or in the storage boxes in the back of your vehicle’s trunk. You’ll need to transfer all of this over to the Locker located in the Auto Shop, as this massive storage area is where the crafting bench will pull all of your available materials from.

However, your character inventory is quite small, and there’s no way that you’re able to carry all of the salvage to the Locker in one go. That’s where the Transfer Trunk comes in, as you can quickly drop all of your salvage into the Transfer Trunk, cart it over to the Locker, and then drop it all there in one fell swoop. It’s much quicker than doing lots of little trips to and from the car.

To quickly transfer loot from the Transfer Trunk to the Locker, pick up the Transfer Trunk in your hands and walk over to the Locker. While looking at it, press the ‘E’ key to open the Locker inventory. Then press the ‘T’ key to transfer all your materials in one go. Anything else can be manually moved over with the mouse.

The Transfer Trunk is rewarded by the Friendly Dumpster after you’ve completed your first couple of runs into the Exclusion Zone.

If you’re yet to see it around the Auto Shop, make sure you’ve interacted with the Friendly Dumpster. Still no luck? Complete another salvage run in the Exclusion Zone and then check back in with the Friendly Dumpster when you return. Chances are it’ll spit out the Transfer Trunk and you’ll be good to go.

The Friendly Dumpster is located just outside the main entrance to the garage, on the left as you walk out.
