All weapons in MW3, from Assault Rifles to SMGs, Snipers & more guns

There are more weapons than ever before in MW3, as you're not only able to access the new selection of Assault Rifles, SMGs, and Snipers but also the full swathe of guns from Modern Warfare 2 as well.

This is the first time that this has happened in a Call of Duty game, and it gives players more opportunities than ever to find and build their ideal gun and take it onto the battlefield. I know which weapons I'll be gravitating towards in the game, but it's quite overwhelming how many there are to try out and unlock.

You will need to complete challenges to unlock the various Armory weapons, which are unlocked after reaching level 25 in the Military Rank rewards.

Do Modern Warfare 2 weapons carry over to MW3?

You'll notice if you've played a fair amount of MW2 that any guns that you unlocked in Modern Warfare 2 have carried over to MW3 and are able to be used from the moment that you unlock custom loadouts.

Any weapons that you didn't get your hands on though can be unlocked by completing challenges after reaching level 55, so let's hope that you managed to secure all of the meta weapons as you'd be a long way off otherwise.

I'm in two minds about this addition, as on one hand it adds a huge number of weapons to the game for players to enjoy - many of which will be instantly familiar and comfortable to use.

On the other hand, it does make balancing extremely difficult with the overwhelming amount of guns on offer - and I fear that many players will still gravitate to their old favourites.

What are 'recommended weapons'?

Recommended weapons are a new limited-time feature in MW3 that give you extra XP and the opportunity to complete additional weekly challenges. There are no 'set' recommended weapons, and the selection will rotate all of the time, encouraging you to use new guns that you might not have otherwise touched.

You can see which guns are designated as recommended weapons by the orange fire symbol next to their image as shown above - so why not give them a try to get some extra experience and climb the ranks faster?
