Is Forrtnite down? Reports are beginning to come in of players struggling to get into matches on Fortnite. The mega-hit battle royale has seen an influx of players as of late as it launched Chapter 3, and introduced its new mapped Flipped. Yet as the numbers climbed, have the servers buckled under the pressure? Here's everything we know about the reported server issues and whether Fornite is down or not.

Reports are flooding in of widespread issues on Fortnite. But is it just a glitch or is Fortnite down? Heading over to Down Detector, it seems as though there has been a massive spike in player issues in the last couple of hours, as of 1PM UTC on December 22. However, issues appear to be limited to the Epic Games store, so only for players on PC. We tried booting up the game on PS5 and while the queue was a little longer than usual, we managed to get in a game eventually.

For those on PC, the issue doesn't seem to be just with Fortnite. There have been mass outage for services such as Amazon, Hulu and the Epic Games Store. Checking online to the Epic Games Status page, the company began investigations at 12.47PM UTC, and have since only stated that it continues to investigate at 13.05PM.

When Will Fortnite Be Back Up?

At this point, there has been no official word from the Fortnite accounts commenting on whether Fortnite is down. However, heading over to the Epic Games website seems to give a little more clarity. The website itself is working, but for Fortnite, Epic has reported that "degraded performance" is affecting Game Services, Login, Parties, Friends, and Messaging, Matchmaking and Stats and Leaderboard. That means that Fortnite is down, and at this point there is no way for the players to bypass it on PC. We will also simply need to wait for a fix from Epic Games.

Hopefully we will see a fix for this soon, but in the meantime it looks like there is no question of whether Fortnite is down. Why not read our guide on the Fortnite Winterfest 2021 so you know what to tackle when you get back into the game?
