To see footsteps in Fortnite, you will need to enable an audio setting called "Visualize Sound Effects". To do this, follow the below steps:

1. Navigate to the settings menu by pressing the three lines icon at the top left of the home screen
2. In the row at the top, select the sound icon, which is the seventh button
3. Scroll down to the 'Sound' section and set "Visualize Sound Effects" to on
4. Save and apply the settings, and it will be enabled
