Hogwarts Legacy offers a tremendous amount of gear customisation with a multitude of robes, hats, glasses and more available. Although you get plenty of choice in Hogwarts Legacy, you start the game with only 20 inventory slots for gear, meaning these will fill up fast.

Below we'll tell you how to sell your gear and get yourself a tidy profit – perhaps even enough to buy a broomstick!

We’d implore you to read our explainer of the controversy so far, and consider supporting trans rights charities where possible.

Thanks to the transmog system in Hogwarts Legacy, you can sell any gear and keep the appearance of anything you sell. Your character will essentially use the stats of the gear that is equipped, whilst using the appearance of the outfit you have selected.

With this in mind, it makes no sense to hold onto any gear that is a lesser level than the items you already have equipped. The fastest way to make galleons in Hogwarts Legacy is by selling unwanted gear to shop vendors.

Shop vendors can be found throughout the world map and, despite their speciality, will buy gear from you. Simply talk to them and enter the shop inventory. Then click on the right-side tab to switch to your inventory. Now, select any items you wish to sell (the selling price will be displayed to show you how much you can get from each item).

The best, and easiest, place to sell gear is Hogsmeade. This is accessible once you have completed your first Charms and Defence Against The Dark Arts classes within the first 1-2 hours of the game. Once you have unlocked the Hogsmeade map at this time, you are free to travel back at any point using the Floo Powder Network, or by walking and flying there yourself.

Be sure to also visit Gladrags Wizardwear whilst you're in Hogsmeade. The vendor there has a selection of gear you can buy which changes periodically. Usually, they stock higher levelled gear (coloured gold or purple) which can significantly boost your defensive stats when equipped.

Thankfully, no matter how ugly the high levelled clothes may be, you can always change their appearance and keep the stat boosts. Storing gear will only become available later in the game once you have unlocked the Room of Requirement.
