Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 is one of the most anticipated titles for the Xbox brand, and you can stay up to date with the latest trailers, gameplay details, platforms and release date information right here.

Praised for its depiction of mental health, Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice incorporated Norse and Celtic lore with a revolutionary audio design that allowed you to hear the inner thoughts of the troubled warrior, Senua.

Senua is back in Hellblade 2 and comes with a new quest to journey through Viking-age Iceland. As with the original, you will delve into Norse lore as you experience other-worldly plot points that may or may not be real.

What is the Hellblade 2 release date?

Hellblade 2 is scheduled to launch on May 21, 2024. Fans of the first game will be delighted with this news, as it has been over three years that they've had to wait for a concrete time of launch.

It's not long to wait now, so you'll be able to dive back into Senua's journey soon and experience all of the dark horrors and threats that she faces.

Are there any trailers for Hellblade 2?

There has thankfully been an abundance of trailers released for Senua's Saga Hellblade 2 so far since its initial reveal at The Game Awards in 2019.

This first trailer shows the return of Senua in the midst of dark and mysterious visuals, with chanting that you won't soon forget in the backdrop. While no gameplay was shown here, it certainly made an impression - especially for a game that largely focuses on its 'cinematic' nature.

Another significant trailer was shown two years later at The Game Awards in 2021, this time putting a focus on gameplay and the stunning visuals you'll encounter when progressing through Senua's journey.

The most recent trailer though came from an Xbox Showcase in 2023, giving us a more isolated experience as Sensua traverses through a cave where more appears to meet the eye.

While not necessarily a 'trailer' per se, there was also an eight-minute developer dive into many of the game's features, systems, and stories at the Xbox Developer Direct in January 2024. This will likely be the last significant chunk of info we get about the game ahead of its launch, so make sure to take it all in if you're excited.

All Hellblade 2 platforms

Hellblade 2 will be a next-gen game, arriving on both Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store.

It will also release day one on Xbox Games Pass, which is undoubtedly great news for subscription holders as another anticipated title will be added to the library upon launch.

Unfortunately, Hellblade 2 will only be available digitally, so you can only purchase the game through each platform's respective digital storefronts. There is currently no information regarding any physical release in the future, but we will let you know if this changes at all.

Are there any gameplay & story details for Hellblade 2?

Ninja Theory has been somewhat tight-lipped about the plot of the sequel. The recent Xbox Games Showcase trailer in 2023 was more of a cinematic experience, following Senua as she navigates through a mystical cave and seemingly transports herself into the land of lore and mythology.

We did get a gameplay trailer during the 2021 Game Awards that offered more insight into the narrative focus of Hellblade 2.

During the gameplay trailer, we saw more of the brutal combat Ninja Theory is known for, alongside the antagonistic voices in Senua's head as she leads a party of warriors into a fight against a giant.

The trailer blended an opening cinematic into gameplay capture with the giant chasing Senua and withstanding a bombardment of spears from the Celtic warriors surrounding it.

Ending on an ominous note, which is standard for the franchise now, the giant recognises Senua and seems to see within her.

The trailers seem to hint that Senua will be fighting more Norse warriors in the sequel and will be meeting more Norse gods and notable figures in mythology like Hel from the first game. As it stands, the cryptic trailers haven’t revealed much more about what we can expect the plot to contain.

We will make sure to update you as soon as more info arrives for Hellblade 2, but in the meantime, make sure to check out our releases homepage for more on gaming's biggest upcoming titles like Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake and STALKER 2.
